Freaky Friday

Welcome to this week's edition of Freaky Friday!

Today I will be spotlighting Billy Wilder's film, Sunset Boulevard starring William Holden and Gloria Swanson.

I discovered this film a few years ago. Not sure why I watched it, but I'd seen Sabrina and liked it enough.

The film begins with the police covering a murder and the narrator giving some background on the schlemele that died.

Within minutes we are taken back to the beginning where a male writer (Holden) sits in his crappy apartment trying to create magic with his mind. Soon he finds himself a gigolo to a screen legend, Norma Desmond, played brilliantly by Gloria Swanson.

The twists and turns of the Hollyweird romance of this mismatched couple will keep you wondering where's this going next.

Filled with old school film royalty like Swanson, Holden, Cecil B. DeMille (The Ten Commandments ring a bell), and Buster Keaton, Sunset Boulevard will leave you ready for your close up.

PS By a strange coincidence Gloria Swanson passed away on April 4, 1983.
