Welcome to this week's Wednesday Woman edition.
Today I'm spotlighting Jurnee Smollett.
Most of you are familiar with this rising diva.
She burst into the business with her siblings on the short-lived show On Our Own.
During her childhood she made appearances on Full House and Hangin' With Mr. Cooper.
However, this gifted girl made a name for herself co-starring with Lynn Whitfield and Samuel L. Jackson in Eve's Bayou.
Set in the surrounding Bayou communities of New Orleans, Eve's Bayou takes Father Knows Best and mixes it with the mysterious, sensuality of the deep South.
Samuel L. Jackson plays respected and philandering Dr. Louis Batiste. One night while playing doctor with a patient, his youngest daughter Eve (Smollett) witnesses the tryst. After sharing the news with her sister Cisely (Meagan Good) the shite hits fan.
Smollett's performance as the traumatized Eve tears at your heart, but keeps you wanting more.
Recently Jurnee Smollett could be seen on House M.D. and the Denzel Washington film The Great Debaters.
Little girl lost, hospital patient, and determined collegiate intellect, Jurnee Smollett's got the goods to get the job done.
